Field barns near Hartington
Go anywhere in the Peak District and you’ll see small barns tucked into the corners
of fields. They are a distinctive part of the historic Peak District landscape.
Farmers who owned land far from their farmhouse built field barns to shelter
sheep and cattle over winter, store hay and secure farm tools. Many are still
in use, while others are now ruins.
The barns and nearby field walls make great subjects for photographs.
